USPTO intents to terminate agreement of ISA and IPEA with Russia

USPTO announced that it has notified the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks that it intends to terminate their ISA (International Searching Authority) and IPEA (International Preliminary Examining Authority) cooperation agreements, which means the international applications need to be careful to choose Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks as ISA or IPEA when they apply patent through PCT system. USPTO also announced that the termination will be effective on December 1, 2022.

What is ISA?

ISA is a patent office that register choose to do research for a prior art regarding their PCT application. ISA will provide a search report dealing the results of their prior art, which generally includes prior art references, and a brief summary to explain how to apply the certain prior art references to their PCT application.
