Madrid System Required Trademark Applicant to Provide Email Address Now!

WIPO wishes to inform that amendment to Section 11 of the Administrative Instructions for the Application of Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks will enter into force on February 1, 20203, which require applicants and holders to communicate with the WIPO by electronic means. Thus, the representatives of the Marks holders should provide an email address as a matter of urgency.

How to Indicate an E-mail Address?

WIPO will reach out directly to the holders and representatives to provide email address. Holders or representatives may check whether an email address has been indicated for a given international registration from the Madrid Monitor available at: https://www3.wipo.int/madrid/monitor/en/.
