During the World Cup is holding in Qatar, lots of famous football stars, the Mascots are becoming popular around the world. Some people or companies apply to register the trademarks regarding to the name of famous football stars, the Mascots, or the name of the princess from Qatar in China Trademark Office.
China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) take measures to deal with those bad faith applications. During application examination, the examiners objected 26 applications related to the World Cup according to the Section 7 of the Trademark Law Article 10. For example, Application Number 66999855 applied to register “世界杯”, Number 63803887 applied to register “LAEEB” and so on.
CNIPA will continue to take serious approaches to handle bad faith application issues.
